SKY Helicopters works with government bodies and local groups to support forestry, wildfire management, infrared scanning, high resolution aerial imagery acquisition, vertical reference, transportation and more. 

Our pilots are forestry approved, mountain certified, and have all trained extensively in many aspects of mountainous aerial work. We work closely with governments and commercial stakeholders to support their teams so that jobs get finished on time and on budget.

Backcountry Infrastructure Implementation

For years, SKY has built helipads and infrastructure in the backcountry. We have experienced BC forestry approved fallers to assist our crews with constructing professionally built, safe and certified helipads. We use local materials to save cost, and keep the ecology of the surrounding environment intact.

Environmental / Wildlife Survey

When it comes to keeping the environment safe, our team has experienced personnel that can conduct surveys for pine beetle, timber counting and identification, wildlife counting and identification, and fishery survey.

Vertical Reference

Since 2011, SKY has provided vertical reference service in the forestry sector since including helipad construction, reforestation, and construction. We’ve worked with BC parks, reforestation companies, and BC wildfire unit crews in diverse situations.

SKY has pilots that are also capable of conducting safe and efficient long ling services for many potential clients or industries.

CREW TRANSPORT

Because of our pilot’s extensive experience flying through mountain terrain, our whole team is capable of transporting crew and gear in any mountain situation. In the past, we’ve worked with firefighters, emergency response, forestry teams, and others to transport their teams and supplies.

Whatever industry you may be working in, our team and diverse fleet can work with you to fly safely between your sites.

Wildfire Suppression

SKY has relationships with provincial governments to assist in wildfire management and forestry work. Due to our large fleet and year-round pilots, we are able to respond quickly to incidents.

Our select team of wildfire suppression pilots are selected specifically for their accreditation and experience to support firefighters. On top of firefighting, we also use our thermal imaging program to detect hot spots and fire perimeters to help prevent further fires.

Infrared Scanning

SKY has worked with the BC forestry, provincial governments, and environmental groups to support the safety of our forests. We have an in-house thermal GIS program for wildfire hot spot and perimeter mapping, forestry cut block hot spot detection and wildlife detection.

Our experienced pilots work with a licensed thermal technician who operates our state of the art FLIR sensor during flight. We use the ESRI suite of software to produce the best results, and our program lead has a university-level certification in GIS.
